Novena to Our Lady Queen of Peace

,
BIRHEN  NG  EDSA

Sa ‘yo Mahal na Birhen ng Edsa,
hiling nami’y kapayapaan.
Dalhin mo kami kay Hesus
na Siyang aming kaligtasan.
Mula sa gapos ng kaapihan
kami’y hinango mo’t iniligtas.
Walang dugo, walang dahas,
kundi dasal at pag-ibig lamang.

Sa Rosaryo mo, Mahal na Birhen,
nagkaisa kami sa Edsa.
Sa Eukaristiya ng ‘yong Anak,
nagkabuklod kami’t nagkaisa.
Huwag mo kaming iiwanan,
dini sa aming paglalakbay
hanggang kami’y makarating
sa langit na aming bayan.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Psalm 85

Ant. 1:  Lord, You have blessed Your land;
You have forgiven the sins of Your people.

O Lord, You once favored Your land:
You forgave the guilt of Your people
and covered all their sins.
You averted all Your rage,
You calmed the heat of Your anger.

Revive us now, O God, our helper!
Put an end to Your grievance against us.
Will You be angry with us for ever,
will Your anger never cease?

Will You not restore again our life
that Your people may rejoice in You?
Let us see, O Lord, Your mercy
and give us Your saving help.

I will hear what the Lord God has to say,
a voice that speaks of peace,
Peace for His people and friends
and those who turn to Him in their hearts.

His help is near for those who fear Him
and his glory will dwell in our land.

Mercy and faithfulness have met;
justice and peace have embraced.
Faithfulness shall spring from the earth
and justice look down from heaven.

The Lord will make us prosper
and our earth shall yeild its fruit.
Justice shall march before Him
and peace shall follow His steps.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. 1:  Lord, You have blessed Your land;
You have forgiven the sins of Your people

Psalm 86

Ant. 2:  Look on me with love, O Lord, and save me.

Turn Your ear, O Lord, and give answer
for I am poor and needy.
Preserve my life, for I am faithful:
save the servant who trusts in You.

You are my God,  have mercy on me, Lord,
for I cry to You all the day long.
Give joy to Your servant, O Lord,
for to You I lift up my soul.

O Lord, You are good and forgiving,
full of love to all who call.
Give heed, O Lord, to my prayer
and attend to the sound of may voice.

In the day of distress I will call
and surely You will reply.
Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
nor work to compare with Yours.

All the nations shall come to adore You
and glorify Your name, O Lord:
for You are great and do marvelous deeds,
You who alone are God.

Show me, Lord, Your way
so that I may walk in Your truth.
Guide my heart to fear Your name.

I will praise You, Lord my God, with all my heart
and glorify your name forever;
for Your love to me has been great:
You have saved me from the depths of the grave.

The proud have risen against me;
ruthless men seek my life:
to You they pay no heed.

But You, God of mercy and compassion,
slow to anger, O Lord,
abounding in love and truth,
turn and take pity on me.

O give Your strength to Your servant
and save Your handmaid’s son.
Show me a sign of Your favor
that my foes may see to their shame
that You console me and give me Your help.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. 2:  Look on me with love, O Lord, and save me.

Day 1: PEACE: A Moment Of Creation

A reading from the book of Genesis (Gen. 1: 1-4).

In the beginning,
when God created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless wasteland,
and darkness covered the abyss,
while a mighty wind swept over the waters.
Then God said:
“Let there be light,”
and there was light.
God saw how good the light was.

The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

(Moment of  Silence)

anger and vengeance...
Peace...
Light... a new day...
a new challenge...

A new creation... a new life...
“life in its fullness”.

Teach us Your spirit,
for it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord,
that we can discover the healing springs of life
that will bring about new birth to our earth
and hope for the world. Amen.

(In silence, we bring to the Lord our prayers and petitions).

Ant. 3: The Almighty has done good things for  me,
Holy is His Name.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for He has looked with favor on His lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
The Almighty has done good things for  me,
and holy is His Name.

He has mercy on those who fear Him
in every generation,

He has shown the strength of His arm,
He has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
He has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
And the rich He has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of His servant Israel
for He has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise He made to our fathers,
to Abraham and His children for ever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. 3: The Almighty has done good things for  me,
Holy is His Name.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Day 2: PEACE: Love Without Bounderies

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John (Jn. 10: 14-16).

I am the good shepherd.
I know my sheep and my sheep know me,
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father.
I will lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that do not belong to the fold.
These also I must lead,
and they will hear my voice,
and there will be one flock, one shepherd.

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to You, O Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer-reflection

Lord Jesus, we come to you in our need.
Grant us a sense of urgency
to activate the forces of goodness,
of  justice, of  love, and of  peace.
Where there is armed conflict,
let us stretch out our arms
to our brothers and sisters.

Kapayapaan...
Paggalang at pagtanggap
sa pagkakaiba-iba ng bawat isa...
Kapayapaan...
Pagdadamayan... pagtutulungan...
pag-aalay ng buhay kung kinakailangan...
Kapayapaan...
Pakikinig sa tinig ng kabutihan at katarungan...
para sa lahat at hindi para sa iilan lamang...
Kapayapaan...
Pag-ibig na walang hangganan...
pagkakaisa sa kabila ng pagkakaiba-iba...
         “Isang Kawan... Isang Pastol...”

Teach us Your spirit,
for it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord,
that we can discover the healing springs of life
that will bring about new birth to our earth

Day 3: PEACE: Trust In God Not In Possessions

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke (Lk. 12: 13-15).

Someone in the crowd said to Him:
“Teacher tell my brother to give me
my share of our inheritance.”
He replied:
“Friend, who has set me up as your judge or arbiter?”
Then He said to the crowd:
“Avoid greed in all its forms.
A man may be wealthy,
but his possessions do not guarantee him life.”

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to You, O Lord Jesus Christ.

(Moment of  Silence)

Prayer-reflection

Lord Jesus, we come to you in our need.
Grant us a sense of urgency
to activate the forces of goodness,
of  justice, of  love, and of  peace.
Where there is abundance,
let there be simple lifestyle and sharing.

Only in You, Lord, can we have  fullness of life.
Possessions do not guarantee us life.
Peace is trusting in God, not in possessions.
Greed is the enemy of peace.

Teach us Your spirit,
for it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord,
that we can discover the healing springs of life
that will bring about new birth to our earth
and hope for the world. Amen.

(In silence, we bring to the Lord our prayers and petitions).

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Day 4: PEACE: An Unwaivering Faith

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke (Lk. 21: 1-4).

Jesus looked up and saw the rich
putting their offerings into the treasury
and also a poor widow putting in two copper coins.
He said, “I assure you,
this poor widow has put in more than all the rest.
They make contributions out of their surplus,
but she, from her poverty,
has offered every penny she had to live on.”

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to You, O Lord Jesus Christ.

(Moment of Silence)

Prayer-reflection

Lord Jesus, we come to you in our need.
Grant us a sense of urgency
to activate the forces of goodness,
of  justice, of  love, and of  peace.
Where there is poverty,
let there be dignified living
and constant striving for just structures.

The poor widow’s faith strongly proclaims
a truly peaceful and dignified life.
It provides a striking contrast
to the pride and pretentiousness of the rich.
“How blest are the poor in spirit:
the reign of God is theirs.”
Peace is unwaivering faith.

Teach us Your spirit,
for it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord,
that we can discover the healing springs of life
that will bring about new birth to our earth
and hope for the world. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Day 5: PEACE: A Humble Service

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew (Mt. 20: 25-28).

Jesus then called the twelve together and said:
“You know how those who excercise authority
among the Gentiles lord it over them;
their great ones make their importance felt.
It cannot be like that with you.
Anyone among you who aspires to greatness
must serve the rest,
and whoever wants to rank first among you
must serve the needs of all.
Such is the case with the Son of Man
who has come, not to be served by others,
but to serve, to give his own life
as a ransom for the many.”

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to You, O Lord Jesus Christ.

(Moment of Silence)

Prayer-reflection

Lord Jesus, we come to you in our need.
Grant us a sense of urgency
to activate the forces of goodness,
of  justice, of  love, and of  peace.
Where there is selfish ambition,
let there be humble service.

Power in the church is service.
Peace is Power... A Humble Service...
A Power ready “to give one’s own life
as a ransom for the many.”

Teach us Your spirit,
for it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord,
that we can discover the healing springs of life
that will bring about new birth to our earth

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

DAY  6: PEACE: To Be My Brother’s Brother

A reading from the Book of Genesis (Gen. 4: 3-12).

In the course of time, Cain and Abel
brought offerings to the Lord.
The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering,
but on Cain and his offering he did not.
Cain greatly resented this and was crestfallen.
So the Lord said to Cain:
“Why are you so resentful and crestfallen?
If you do well, you can hold up your head;
but if not, sin is a demon lurking at the door;
his urge is toward you,
and yet you can be his master.”
Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
The Lord said to Cain,
“Where is your brother Abel?”
He answered, “I do not know.
Am I my brother’s keeper?’
The Lord then said: “What have you done!
Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the soil.
Therefore you shall be banned from the soil...
If you till the soil,
it shall no longer give you its produce...

The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

(Moment of  Silence)

Prayer-reflection

Lord Jesus, we come to you in our need.
Grant us a sense of urgency
to activate the forces of goodness,
of  justice, of  love, and of  peace.
Where there is injustice,
let there be atonement.

We are not simply our brother’s keepers.
We are our brother’s brothers.
Let us joyfully embrace this truth:
We are all brothers and sisters.
Peace is blinded by jelousy and resentment.

Teach us Your spirit,
for it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord,
that we can discover the healing springs of life
that will bring about new birth to our earth
and hope for the world. Amen.

DAY  7: PEACE: Hope In The Good News

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John (jn. 6: 65-69).

He went on to say:
“This is why I have told you
that no one can come to me
unless it is granted him by my Father.”
From this time on, many of his disciples
broke away and would not remain
in his company any longer.
Jesus then said to the Twelve,
“Do you want to leave me too?’
Simon Peter answered him,
“Lord, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe;
we are convinced that You are God’s holy one.”

DAY  8: PEACE: Unity And Wholeness

A reading from the book of the Prophet Isaiah (Is. 11: 6-9).

Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
The calf and the young lion shall browse together,
the cow and the bear shall be neighbors,
together their young shall rest;
The lion shall eat hay like the ox.
The baby shall play by the cobra’s den,
and the child lay his hands on the adder’s lair.
There shall be no harm or ruin on all my holy mountain;
For the earth shall be filled
with knowledge of the Lord, as water covers the sea.

Thanks be to God.

and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

DAY  9: PEACE: A Gift...  A Mission

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John (Jn. 20: 19-22).

On the evening of that first day of the week,
even though the disciples
had locked the doors
of the place where they were
for fear of the Jews,
Jesus came and stood before them.
“Peace be with you,” He said.
When He had said this,
He showed them His hands and His side.
At the sight of the Lord the disciples rejoiced.
“Peace be with you,” He said again.
“As the Father has sent Me, so I send you.”
Then He breathed on them and said:
“Received the Holy Spirit.”

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to You, O Lord Jesus Christ.

(Moment of Silence)

Prayer-reflection
Lord Jesus, we come to you in our need.
Help us to be committed
to the building of Your Kingdom,
not seeking to be cared for but to care,
not expecting to be served but to place ourselves
in the service of others;
not aspiring to be materially secure
but to place our security in Your love.

“Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent Me, so I send you.”
Peace is a Gift and a Mission
the Risen Lord has given to the Church.

Teach us Your spirit,
for it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord,
that we can discover the healing springs of  life
that will bring about new birth to our earth
and hope for the world. Amen.

(In silence, we bring to the Lord our prayers and petitions).

Lord, have mercy on us...   Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us...   Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us...   Lord, have mercy on us.
Holy Mary, Queen Conceived without Original Sin...   Pray for us.
Holy Mary, Queen Assumed into Heaven...   Pray for us.
Holy Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary...   Pray for us.
Holy Mary, Queen of the Family...   Pray for us.
Holy Mary, Queen of Peace...   Pray for us.

Magnificat

Amen.

LET  THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH

Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
the peace that was meant to be.

With God as our Father
brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brothers
in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me.
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
let this be my solemn vow:

To take each moment
and live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me.
